Bicycle and child safety focus of MDOT safety fair

MDOT will host its 5th Annual Safety Fair on Saturday, April 6th, at the Trade Mart at the MS Fairgrounds in Jackson.

The event will take place Saturday, April 6 at 10:00am until 2:00pm. MDOT works to reduce roadway fatalities by educating parents and children about child passenger safety and vehicle occupant protection.

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The City of Jackson annouced a section of Jefferson Street at Fortification Street will be temporarily closed starting Tuesday for construction.

The closure is on the south side of Fortification Street and will take three to four weeks.

JACKSON, MS (MSNewsNow) - The City of Jackson has announced a section of State Street in front of Baptist Medical Center will be temporarily closed this weekend.

State Street between Manship Street and Poplar Boulevard will be closed in both directions from 11 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Volunteers needed for Museum to Market Trail Clean-Up Day Sunday

Supporters of a paved multi-use trail in Jackson are holding a Trail Clean-Up Day Sunday at 2 p.m.

Volunteers are invited to bring the whole family to help keep the 2.5-mile trail clear.

“Even though the asphalt will not be officially poured for several more months, the trail remains in good condition for those looking for a nature walk or leisurely mountain bike ride,” said Melody Moody, executive director of Bike Walk Mississippi.
