Romney eats BBQ, raises funds in Jackson
News

JACKSON, MS (WLBT)- Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney arrived in Jackson Monday afternoon for a private fundraising event at the River Hills Club. He also apparently had some local BBQ.

Romney's body man D.G. Jackson, a Mississippi native, tweeted a picture Monday afternoon and said, "Got some great Mississippi BBQ at the Hickory Pit. Gov managed to get more BBQ on him than he ate."

A chairman's reception was planned for 5 p.m. and a general reception for donors at 6 p.m.

Romney was also in Louisiana Monday raising money.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a top prospect to become his running-mate, helped host a luncheon at the City Club in downtown Baton Rouge.

Plates to that event cost $50,000.00.

Monday morning, Romney charged that President Barack Obama's attacks on his business record at Bain Capital are "misdirected" and "dishonest."

Romney told Fox News Channel that Obama was trying to divert attention from his own record as he continued to argue that the former Massachusetts governor sent jobs overseas as head of the private equity firm.
