JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The B1 of the 9 Fitness Festival sponsored by the Diabetes Care Group is coming soon to the Downtown Jackson YMCA.

The free festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon on April 23 and will include cooking demonstrations by Julie Levanway of Fresh From the Flame catering, fitness classes by Healthways SilverSneakers Fitness Program, diabetes education and resources, and nutrition training.

In recognition of National Infant Immunization Week, the Mississippi State Department of Health is offering free routine immunizations for infants and children through 18 years of age at all county health departments the week of April 22-26.

Kids have big fun at Zippity Doo Dah weekend

JACKSON, MS (MSNewsNow) - Zippity Doo Dah weekend is for the kid at heart and the kids too. The Sal and Mookie's Children's Carnival was held from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

All the fun took place at the green space of the Mississippi Veteran's/JSU Stadium. There were 35 activities for kids including space jumps and much more.

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - A new exhibit at the Old Capitol Museum showcases Jackson's history with more than one hundred years of archival images.

According to the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, the exhibit features early images of well-known buildings and documents Jackson’s development from a small town of modest homes to a bustling metropolis.

What started as a fun little day in a parking lot has turned into a full fledged production, Friends of Children’s Hospital fundraiser and Saturday anchor of Zippity Doo Dah®. We're talking Sal & Mookie's Children's Carnival on March 23, which began with games in the restaurant's parking spaces. “The first one five years ago was a simple setup,” said Jeff Good, Sal & Mookie's co-owner. It was free to customers and neighborhood kids, providing a day of fun and games.

The Jackson Zoo invites you to its annual breakfast with the Easter Bunny and animals Saturday, March 30.

Enjoy a breakfast buffet, animal story time, a zoo tour with Easter treats for the animals, crafts and a special appearance by the Easter Bunny.

Breakfast starts at 8 a.m. Tickets must be purchase in advance.

Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Children’s Museum will welcome members of the John C. Stennis Space Center on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to the museum on Saturday, March 9 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The team from NASA will show visitors all about different aspects of living and working in space and other out-of-this-world activities!

Visitors will be able to engage with the robotics team and learn how robotics are used in space and create an edible Mars rover.
