Emeril Lagasse serves up a smile at Batson Hospital | Events
JACKSON, MS - World-renowned celebrity chef and philanthropist, Emeril Lagasse, made an appearance at Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson today.
Randy Watkins, Viking Classic tournament director, fired up the affair by explaining how PGA brings in more capital than NBA, NFL and MLB.
Lagasse warmed quite a few hearts at Blair E. Batson this afternoon, sharing smiles and hugs with several patients. Children rubbed elbows with Emeril as he handed out Viking Classic t-shirts. Emeril gave a short speech encouraging Jacksonians to attend the Viking Classic with empty stomachs.
He will be serving up some of his popular entrées at the tournament for the second year in a row. Although Emeril isn't much of an athlete, he stressed the true victory of the game -- the children benefitting from this worthy cause.
Emeril is returning to the Viking Classic in Ridgeland for the second year in support of Friends of Children’s Hospital. He will perform two cooking demonstrations on Thursday, July 14, with the net proceeds from ticket sales to benefit Friends.
Tickets are $50 each and include entrance into the tournament, parking and a seat at Emeril’s demo in the air-conditioned Viking Culinary Tent. The demonstrations are at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and a limited number of tickets are still available. They can be purchased online at www.vikingclassic.com or by calling the Tournament office at 601-898-GOLF (4653).
