City of Jackson Gearing Up For National Night Out
The City of Jackson is urging neighborhood associations and groups to register their events for the annual National Night Out celebration so city staff can attend as many events as possible.
National Night Out is Oct. 2. Each year, groups across the city hold block parties, cookouts and other events to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, according to the city.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participate in, local anticrime efforts;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Neighborhood organizations wishing to register their National Night Out events are encouraged to call Keyshia Sanders at 601-960-1084.
