JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The 30th annual Mal's St. Paddy's Parade & Festival is Saturday.
Saturday, horticulturist Felder Rushing will lead the parade, which is on St. Patrick's Day this year, in his green pick-up truck.
It will start at 1 p.m. at the corner of State and Court streets in Downtown Jackson. The parade will make its way up Capitol Street and on to South Lamar Street.
The theme of this year’s event is “That’s What I Like About the South.”
“Felder is the “greenest” guy I know. Everyone knows him and he is the epitome of what I like about the south," said parade founder Malcolm White.
Other activities are planned throughout the week.
On Friday night, the Marching MALfunction & Second Line Stomp will go along the original parade route from 30 years ago. March with Southern Komfort Brass Band from CS's to George Street and then to Hal & Mal's at 6:30 p.m.
The schedule for Saturday includes:
- 8 a.m. –Mal’s St. Paddy’s Day Race
- 9 a.m. – Trustmark Children’s Festival
- 10 a.m. –Pet Parade
- 11 a.m. – Children’s Parade
- 1 p.m. – 30th Annual Mal’s St. Paddy’s Parade
