GodwinGroup celebrates 75th anniversary | Business

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Mississippi's oldest and largest advertising and marketing company GodwinGroup celebrated its 75th anniversary Thursday at its headquarters in Jackson.

This national company has been headquartered in Jackson since it opened in 1937.

The firm also announced Thursday it will donate $150,000 in Pro Bono work to selected non-profit and educational institutions in Missisisppi over the next 12 months in honor of its anniversary.

“This is our way of saying ‘Thank You’ to the state that has been our home for the last seven decades,” said Philip Shirley, chairman and CEO of GodwinGroup. “Godwin is committed to continuing our support of Mississippi’s economic development, as well as being committed to the downtown Jackson business district.”

The company serves clients nationwide and has had offices all over the country, but they've always been in Jackson, Shirley said.

George W. Godwin & Associates was first located in the Lampton Building, later named the Electric Building in Jackson. The company has since been in four other offices but always within a few blocks of the original location downtown.

The company is also celebrating another 75th anniversary. GodwinGroup has had a 75-year relationship with Trustmark, formerly First National Bank.
